Heat Recovery from Production

Production in a printing house is an energy-intensive process that generates large amounts of heat. Most printing houses let it escape unused through windows and often still use cooling systems. We've decided to take a different path – we actively capture and reuse waste heat.

Thanks to this, we reduce energy consumption, protect the environment and create savings that are reflected in more efficient operation and your price tag.

Why does so much heat arise precisely in a printing house?

In production, we use equipment that operates under high load:

  • large-format and digital machines

  • offset printing presses

  • drying units and UV lamps

  • die-cutting and laminating machines

  • compressors and other technologies

These machines continuously generate large amounts of heat during operation. Whilst this heat was previously discharged outside, today we can use it cleverly.

How our waste heat recovery works

1. Heat capture

Heat from production areas is discharged using a ventilation system and heat exchangers.

2. Conversion to usable energy

In the heat exchanger, the heat is transferred to water, which thus heats up without needing to consume electricity or gas.

3. Heating of utility water

This heated water is used for:

  • employee showers

  • kitchenettes

  • cleaning and washing

  • other internal operational needs

In other words, everywhere where it's normally necessary to heat water with standard sources.

What benefits does this have

✔ Lower energy consumption

We heat large amounts of water literally “free” – with heat that would otherwise go into the air without benefit.

✔ Lower carbon footprint

Less energy consumed = fewer emissions. This fits into our ecological goals and the requirements of our corporate clients.

✔ Better working environment

Controlled discharge of heat from production also helps achieve better workplace temperature.

✔ More sustainable printing house operation

It's one of the practical ecological measures that has a real and measurable impact.

Part of our long-term sustainability strategy

At Z STUDIO, we work long-term on reducing energy consumption and ecological operation. Use of waste heat is one of the steps that prove sustainability needn't be just a declaration, but concrete technical solutions bringing real results.

Together with material recycling, responsible paper selection, photovoltaics and EUDR compliance, our technology forms the foundation of a modern and ecologically sustainable printing house.
